Why Use a Custom Domain?
While Lead Fuel CRM provides free subdomains (like yourname.leadfuelcrm.com), using your own custom domain (like yourname.com) builds brand trust and credibility. A custom domain looks more professional and helps establish your brand identity across all your marketing efforts.
Setting Up a Custom Domain
Step 1:Purchase a domain from a registrar like GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Google Domains
Step 2:Log into your Lead Fuel CRM account
Step 3:Navigate to Settings > Domains & SSL
Step 4:Click "Add Custom Domain"
Step 5:Enter your domain name (e.g., example.com)
Step 6:Lead Fuel CRM provides DNS records you need to add
Step 7:Log into your domain registrar and add the provided DNS records
Step 8:Return to Lead Fuel CRM and click "Verify Domain"
Step 9:Once verified, select your domain from the dropdown on your pages/funnels
Types of Custom Domain Setups
- Primary Domain: Your main domain (example.com) used for your website and homepage.
- Subdomain: Create subdomains for different purposes (sales.example.com, funnel1.example.com).
- Multiple Domains: Assign different domains to different funnels or websites if you have multiple businesses.
- Domain Forwarding: Forward secondary domains to your primary domain to consolidate authority.
SSL Certificates and HTTPS
- What is SSL?: SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encrypts data between visitors' browsers and your server, protecting sensitive information.
- HTTPS: Your domain shows "https://" instead of "http://" when SSL is active.
- Automatic SSL: Lead Fuel CRM automatically provides free SSL certificates for all domains.
- Browser Trust: HTTPS shows a lock icon in browsers, indicating the site is secure—important for credibility.
- SEO Benefit: Google ranks HTTPS sites higher than HTTP sites.
DNS Configuration
Step 1:Lead Fuel CRM uses CNAME records to point your domain to our servers
Step 2:Log into your domain registrar's control panel
Step 3:Find the DNS or DNS Records section
Step 4:Create a new CNAME record with the name provided by Lead Fuel CRM
Step 5:Point it to the value given in Lead Fuel CRM settings
Step 6:Save the record (this may take 24-48 hours to propagate globally)
Step 7:Email propagation complete, your domain is fully configured
Common Domain Issues and Solutions
Tip: If you're technical, you can also set up a custom domain using A records and CNAME records for more control. Consult Lead Fuel CRM support for advanced DNS setup.
